Mary Lou is a proud native Texan running for the 45th District Court. From a young age, her parents instilled key values of respect, honesty, and hard work in her. As the daughter of a migrant worker turned Lieutenant Colonel, Mary Lou knows first hand that hard work leads to the American Dream. When it came time to choose her initial career, she followed in her father’s footsteps and earned her undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University.
After working as a manufacturing engineer for two years, Mary Lou went to law school at Seton Hall and after graduation, she was selected to begin her legal career as a federal law clerk. She eventually moved back to San Antonio and has spent the majority of her career representing victims of domestic violence during divorce, custody, and protective order litigation. Last fall, Mary Lou decided to run for Judge because she believes in justice without exception -- she has worked with children and families in courts like this one, and she knows they deserve better than what they are getting from the 45th District Court right now. Mary Lou is the proud single mother to Mari (age 6) and Javi (age 4).
